As of Sept. 14th, 2020:
The City of San Antonio and it’s Park Department have renegotiated the mowing contract and the Confederate Cemetery (privately owned by the CCA) has been dropped from the scheduled maintenance. We knew that this day would come with all of the protests and PC atmosphere we see daily on the news.
Before we were included in that expired contract, we (the CCA) mowed and trimmed the cemetery. We now again assume that responsibility for maintenance and via phone calls and personal interviews of members of the Confederate Cemetery Association (CCA), we have received many volunteers to help mow and trim the cemetery.
The three local SCV camps have promised to let their camp members know about the request for volunteer help.
We realize that we have many members that cannot participate via distance, work, and ability to operate a string trimmer or mower. If you would consider renewing your Confederate Cemetery Association dues, we can procure the means to maintain and mow along with trim the trees and repair the stone markers in our beautiful cemetery.
Our members have already started working on their own at the cemetery mowing, string trimming, and removing weeds. Those that would like to volunteer and bring riding mowers and string trimmers, please contact me.
